Oracle bone script is the earliest systematic writing form in China. Ancient people carved their divination messages on animal bones, which are still clearly recorded despite their age. There is an old Chinese idiom ‘carved in bones and engraved in the heart’ to describe a deep and unforgettable memory. This inspired me to make a book. This book researches bones and writing as a way of exploring the lasting impact of tiny engravings left thousands of years ago.

Some of the pages are printed on pvc. This gives a feeling of lightness, fragility and insecurity. Using a transparent base colour, I have combined multiple layers of plastic sheets to simulate dynamic effect with the static print. The information is gradually revealed as reader flip through the pages.
